Our Town: Conroe, TX

Automatic Gas Company is a locally owned and operated propane company. We have been serving Montgomery County and its surrounding areas since 1948. We are proud to be from Conroe, Texas.

Conroe, TX, was founded around 1881 and flourished because of the lumber and oil industries. In 1901, the city survived a devastating fire, earning the nickname, "The Miracle City". The city's wealth continued to grow well into the 1930's and 40's as people flocked to the area to take advantage of the natural resources. At one time, the city was home to more millionaires per capita than any other city in the United States!

In the following decades, the population dwindled. But, in the 2000's, the population soared again, and Conroe is now home to over 200,000 people. Today, Conroe is a popular spot for outdoor recreation featuring golf courses, parks, and Lake Conroe. The city also boasts two historic theatres and two outdoor theatres. Conroe has many festivals year round, some of them include: Taste of the Town, Montgomery County Fair and Rodeo, Texian Heritage Festival, and the Fall Festival and Corn Maze.
